It is with great
pleasure that we would like to welcome you to
our website. We, at NIC, are willing to provide
you with all the help you need in the
Information and Communication Technology arena. Since my appointment as the Director of the
national Information Centre a little over 5
years ago, it has been my commitment to ensure
that the Centre achieves its mandate of
contributing to and promoting a harmonious
information technology environment in the
government sector as effectively and efficiently
as possible. The demand for NIC services continues to be high
and projects have become increasingly complex.
This trend has characterized the NIC engagement
volume since the endorsement of changes to the
Sudanese Law in 1999, and reflects the dynamic
nature and driving forces underlying the
Sudanese Information and Communication
Technology scene. Nevertheless, the performance
of the NIC and its associate members continues
to improve, as more projects have been carried
out and an increase in the volume of received
requests for the fifth consecutive year. Enhancements to operational processes and
technical tools have continued to progress in
2005-06, and have contributed to the Centre’s
efficiency in dealing with matters. Additional
measures have been initiated, and will be
developed and implemented in the coming years,
in consultation with all NIC’s stakeholders. In
the same vein, the NIC is putting in place a
more formal, regular and broader stakeholder
consultation process. The main focus of these
consultations will be the discussion of added
measures that could be adopted to further
expedite the delivery of an effective and
efficient service and reduce the number of
pending requests – a priority that has been
identified by the client community in past
consultations. In light of the continuing challenge to manage
its historically high and complex workload, the
direction of the NIC for the years ahead will be
its continued focus on the fulfillment of its
current mandate with an emphasis on the
reduction of pending initiatives. Toward this
end, I am committed to finding new opportunities
that will increase the productivity of the NIC
and gain greater efficiencies.
